The year 10 Haileybury student won five gold medals at the recent Victorian championships in five disciplines and qualified for the junior world championships in Russia in November.

In an all-round performance, the 16-year-old won the state, junior international, and double mini trampoline, and the under-17 trampoline, synchronised, and double mini events.

Johnson hopes to land a medal at the world championships in St Petersburg as she did at the junior world event in Canada in 2007.

"I'm hopeful [of wining a medal], Australia does OK and has won medals before, but it's not one of the major nations.

"America is good and the Russians and the Chinese will be the hardest to beat in just about every event.

"In 2007, I won a gold medal in the under-15 mini trampoline, and although the host nation is going to be very strong, I'll be doing my best to get another medal."

Johnson is aiming to compete at the London Olympics.

"It's every athlete's dream to compete at the Olympics and I'm aiming to compete for Australia in London in 2012.

"You are judged on technique and there's also a degree of difficulty as there is in swimming. You get more points for performing the harder routines.

"Trampolining doesn't have the same profile as other sports. When I tell people what I do, it's a bit like, 'what is that'?

Trampolining was in the Olympics for the first time in 2000 in Sydney, so we have some history in the sport."
