05 Oct, 2009 07:23 AM
LEADING Victorian trainer Peter Giles produced a hat-trick of wins at Sandown on Thursday night, including a dominant performance by the talented Jamaican Bolt.

Surfing Boy got Giles off and running in the second race of the night. The win was his first from eight attempts at Sandown after a frustrating run of bad boxes and followed an impressive 29.58seconds at Sale on the weekend.

Two races later, Mid City Ace produced win No. 2 for Giles and secured a trip to Newcastle with an all-the-way win in the final of the Multicam Routers Twin Cities state final. He will now lead the Victorian charge at The Gardens next Friday night with fellow qualifiers Our Toyman, Daisy Baxter and Petition.

Giles completed the hat-trick when Jamaican Bolt proved too classy in the fourth Solo Melbourne Cup Prelude of the night, greeting the judge in 30.08 seconds.

The win was his fourth at the Lightwood Road circuit and franked his form of a week earlier when he was a gallant second behind the classy Flash Of Light in a best of night in 29.65seconds.

Other Prelude winners on the night were Hayder Bale, Oval Express, Danny Phantom and Aston Volante, with the latter dominating his rivals to win effortlessly in 29.81 seconds.

The winner of each Solo Melbourne Cup Prelude earns a berth in the heats of Australia's richest greyhound race, the $250,000 Group 1 Solo Melbourne Cup, the final of which will be run on Thursday, November 26.

The next Solo Melbourne Cup Prelude series will be run on Thursday, October 15.
