YOUNG people kick flipped, ollied and did handle bar spins to take out some great prizes at the Cardinia Shire Skate, Scooter and BMX competition in Pakenham during the school holidays.
Hosted by the council's youth services division, the event saw 39 contestants in three categories - under 13s, under 16s and an open age group. First, second and third place-getters in each category were given prizes.
Council's Emma Firth said the competition, enjoyed by more than 150 spectators, showed off the breadth of local talent and skill.
"The competition allowed young people to be active and show their abilities, originality and creativity."
The next event is on Saturday, April 17, at the Pakenham Skate Park as part of the annual National Youth Week festival.
