Thompson has been appointed a Greyhound Racing Victoria ambassador along with Australian rules star Jonathan Brown and Australian Diamonds netballer Bianca Chatfield.

As well as being available to sign autographs and pose for photographs, he will star in an on-course promotion where 10 lucky patrons will get to test their own soccer shootout skills, with four $1000 bets on the Group 3 Macro Meats Shootout up for grabs.

The Macro Meats Shootout brings together four of Australia's fastest greyhounds in a $20,000 winner-takes-all test of pure speed.

The final Solo Melbourne Cup Prelude series completes an outstanding night of racing, with the country's best making a pitch to run in the heats of the $250,000 Group 1 Solo Melbourne Cup (final on Thursday, November 26).
