One more step closer to their goal

One more step closer to their goal

THE achievements of two young Cardinia Shire residents have been highlighted as the pair received federal funding to continue in their chosen sporting field.

Sam Shepherd, 14, of Beaconsfield and Ashlee King, 14, of Pakenham, were chosen from a pool of more than 100 applicants for a 2008-09 Local Sporting Champions grant.

La Trobe MP Jason Wood presented Sam and Ashlee with an official certificate and a cheque for $500 each to help them meet costs associated with competing at an elite level.

Sam represented Victoria in soccer at the national youth championships in October and Ashlee is a member of the Victoria Venom state floorball team.
