Handy behind wicket

16 Feb, 2010 08:45 AM

UNABLE to bowl because of back soreness, North Dandenong's Clayton McCartney donned the wicketkeeping gloves and then proceeded to account for six wickets, believed to be a club record.

McCartney, the Journal's Junior Cricketer of the Week, took two catches, three stumpings and a runout in the Northerners' under 15(1) game against Hallam, which was shot out for 66 in 22.4 overs.

Batting at No4, McCartney top scored with 25 not out and was on track to pass his season-high score of 60 in a total of 3-50 from the 20 overs before stumps.

■Garrleigh Trophies is again offering trophies for the senior and junior Cricketer of the Week and Cricketer of the Year winners. Weekly winners can collect their trophies from Garrleigh Trophies at factory 3, 2 Hallam South Road, Hallam.
