A SMORGASBORD of active events for seniors will begin this week to celebrate Casey's Ageing Positively program.
Aerobics, lunches, a magic show, self-defence classes and a seminar on accommodation bonds for aged-care facilities are only some of the Acting Active events on the agenda.
Take a journey down memory lane with costume historian Ann Dixon, who will present the session Bygone Days - Reminiscing in Casey.
"I'll bring along some antiques to show what life was like in the good old days. It's always a popular session, even for those who have no idea what life was like without electricity or a washing machine, a time when people could have only one bath a week, or when women boiled their washing in a copper."
Ms Dixon will play old time music on an antique record player and display artefacts and costumes.
"I'll show the 1860 delicate grey silk wedding dress, also part mourning dress, which belonged to a widow who got married in Melbourne."
Ms Dixon's talk, which will include a reading from CJDennis' work, is on October 13 at the Cranbourne Library.
The Acting Active events conclude on October 16 in Hampton Park with events including Anne Atkin's Painting with Parkinson's group and an official address by Mayor Geoff Ablett.
A play by Alan Hopgood, Wicked Widow, will start at 11am and the day will end with a singalong.
